Donkey Kong Country Returns release date

Now this I did not expect. Retro Studio’s the developer of the Metroid Prime trilogy pull a surprise punch with the return of my favourite Nintendo Platformer (sorry Mario); Donkey Kong Country. After Microsoft’s acquisition of Rare Software I thought there would be no chance of a true sequel to the superb Super Nintendo game series. Yes we had Donkey Kong Jungle Beat which was an interesting rhythm based platformer that came boxed with plastic bongos, but it wasn’t a true DKC game. Donkey Kong Country Returns for Wii is an awesome looking platforming side-scroller that promises to bring back the tricky retro action we’ve all missed but give us a modern real time 2 player cooperative mode and gorgeous multi-layered real time 3D graphics. The Donkey Kong Country Returns release date is Christmas 2010 and is going to be a great holiday title.

Mario Sports Mix release date

On one hand Nintendo are well known for being very protective with their game franchises and characters, but on the other hand Nintendo also have made some very strange decisions and have often sold out Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends out for a quick buck.

We’ve had; Mario Party, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf and a Mario Baseball title. One thing games have in common is that they’re not in fact developed by Nintendo themselves. Instead they’re farmed out to 2nd or 3rd party developers and quite frankly it usually shows because most of the time the games are poor.

This year Mario returns once again in Mario Sports Mix and as it sounds you can expect a party game based around sports, starring Mario. The game features four sports:

Volleyball
Basketball
Ice hockey
Dodgeball

Of course you can expect the usual cast of characters; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario and the rest. As this isn’t a Sega title I’m afraid to say you shan’t be able to pitch Sonic against Mario this time. Mario Sports Mix looks like a great title for this kids but don’t expecting this to rival Wii Sports Resorts. The Mario Sports Mix release date is currently scheduled for early 2011.

Wii Party release date

There was a big effort from Nintendo at this year’s E3 to show a good mix of core and casual titles, Wii Party looks to be Nintendo’s very own casual title for this holiday season. If you can picture in your mind a cross between Wii Sports Resort and Mario Party then you will likely be envisaging Wii Party. 13 different party game modes and 70+ minigames that can all be play with the standard Wii Remote motion controller await you in Wii Party for Wii.

Rather pleasantly this isn’t just a Mario cash in; just like Wii Sports everyone can use their Mii avatar instead of the Mushroom Kingdom characters.

The Wii Party release dates is pencilled in for fall 2010, we don’t expect this one to slip because it looks like a perfect family Christmas title on Wii.

Just Dance 2 release date

If I asked you to think of games that have sold over 3 million on the Nintendo Wii then I wouldn’t blame you for suggesting titles such as Mario Kart and Wii Fit .

But did you know that hit party game Just Dance has joined such illustrious titles in selling multiple million copies. With such success you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that Ubisoft have just announced Just Dance 2 for Wii. Featuring over 45 new tracks which are a mix of classic hits today’s chart-toppers. Combine that with a whole new overhaul to the dance system and plenty of new routines choreographed by real experts and you’ve got yourself a game to buy the girls this Christmas. Kirbys Epic Yarn release date

Nintendo were full of surprises at this year’s E3; not only did we see a new Zelda and a new Nintendo DS, but we also got a look at some great new games for Nintendo Wii this year.

Kirbys Epic Yarn for Wii is a brand new title in the long running Kirby franchise, just as with most of the previous games this is a 2D Side Scrolling platformer. As you’ll probably already know, Kirby is a flying shape-shifting pink blob that can absorb special powers from the enemies he eats. This time around though most of Kirby’s amazing powers have been stripped away and it is you and your Wii Remote that has the power.

Gone are the cutesy cartoon graphics that you remember, bring in a lush vibrant and very detailed world of Cloth and Textiles. Everything in Kirby’s Epic Yarn (including Kirby himself) is made of fabric and boy does it remind me of LittleBigPlannet; but in a good way. Expect a world of unique puzzles that use this new graphic style and gameplay to match. The Kirby Epic Yarn release date is 31st October 2010.

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword release date

There was plenty of good news at Nintendo’s E3 press conference and a little bad. First the good, we finally got our first look at the new Wii Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. The bad news is that the game has slipped from its original Christmas 2010 schedule. Let’s not dwell on that too much though because, we finally saw the new Zelda.

For starters we now know that Skyward Sword for Wii is a MotionPlus only title, the add-on unit for the Wii Remote will provide greater accuracy and more realistic sword fighting and archery skills. Next up are the graphics, everyone was wondering if we’d see another Realistic Zelda or more Toon Shading. Turns out we have both; the adult Link from Twilight Princess returns in a colourful but not garish cell shaded world. I’m quite excited by this hybrid of Wind Waker Twilight Princes. I can’t wait for the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword release date of Quarter 1 2010.

Metroid Other M release date

It’s shocking to think that when Metroid Other M Wii comes to our shores, Metroid Prime 3 will already be three years old. Metroid Other M for the Wii was not only a surprise reveal at E3 2009 but along with the game’s announcement came more surprises. Firstly the game’s co-development with Team Ninja was an unexpected shift away from the previous partnership with Retro Studios and secondly, a new gameplay mechanic was unveiled.

Metroid Other M is a third person adventure which fuses the classic retro 2D Metroid gameplay with modern first person shooter action. You control Samus in an almost isometric over the shoulder viewpoint whilst you run, jump and morph ball around the environments. What’s new is that at any time you can point your WiiMote towards your TV and instantly switch into a static FPS mode which literally puts you behind the visor for pixel perfect shooting.

The Metroid Other M release date is August 31st 2010 for both North America and Europe, we can’t wait.

NBA Jam release date

Any gamer worth their salt must remember NBA Jam; the totally whacked out 2 on 2 basketball game that was on almost every game system around 93/94. It’s crazy to think that we hardly had any decent Basketball games to play until NBA Jam came along and spiced things up with real player faces and over the top gameplay. NBA Jam returns once more this October and promises to be just as much fun as it was back in the day, with much better visuals of course.

The NBA Jam Wii release date is October 5th 2010, until then you’ll have to make do with the Basketball mode in WiiSports Resort for the Wii.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 release date

Tiger Woods 10 was one of the biggest selling titles for Nintendo Wii last year. This wasn’t because the Wii outdid the HD consoles with great graphics or an exclusive Tiger Woods Hot Coffee minigame. The Conduit 2 release date

Sega and High Voltage Software return with a follow up to the reasonably successful First Person Shooter for Wii; The Conduit. Whilst the original Conduit for Wii was a little stale in places, it did at least push the hardware with its impressive visuals and innovative completely customisable control scheme. I can’t deny I’m looking forward to another dose of Sci-Fi action on Wii this winter and The Conduit 2 for Wii looks very promising.

Building upon the impressive but flawed online modes in the original, we can expect a much more exciting range of features in the sequel. Details announced so far include:

Team Invasion Mode, a 4 player online GOW style Horde Mode
12 Player online deathmatch
20+ Weapons
Improved online security to stop cheaters and hackers
Wii Speak voicechat support

Recently confirmed is the option to add WiiMotionPlus to your controller for improved accuracy, no word yet on a pack in deal but stay tuned for information if it happens. Currently the North American Conduit 2 release date is November 2nd 2010; hopefully that will be the same across Europe because that just happens to be my birthday.

Lego Harry Potter Years 1 to 4 release date

Many people thought that Lego Star Wars was just a one off novelty for kids, who’d have thought that just a few years later we’ve now had Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Rock Band and Lego Batman. Now at last those clever Lego people are finally taking on the Harry Potter franchise with Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for Wii.

I don’t know about you but after playing through the previous (dark and scary) Harry Potter game for Wii but I am quite looking forward to a less serious take on the series. Sin and Punishment Star Successor release date

Many people thought it would never happen but it has. We finally have a sequel to one of the most hard-core action titles that ever graced a home video game console. The original Sin and Punishment for Nintendo 64 was originally only released in Japan but finally saw a western release the Nintendo Virtual Console for Wii.

Now in 2010 Sin and Punishment 2 arrives from Treasure software and is pushing more pixels than any other Wii game to date. I can’t wait to find out how well Sin and Punishment Star Successor for Wii now plays with pointer aiming controls and eye popping 480p visuals. This is the ultimate for Bullet Hell loving shooter fans and best of all the game features a 2 Player coop mode as well as online leaderboards through the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. The Sin and Punishment Star Successor release date in the US is June 27th 2010 and is out now in Europe.

Red Steel 2 release date

I can’t believe it’s been almost nine months since the release of the Wii MotionPlus add-on for the Wii Remote. Since then only a handful of games have actually used the Wii Accessory; most notably Tiger Woods PGA 10 and Wii Sports Resort. Now with Red Steel 2; sequel to the best best-selling original Wii game within reach, perhaps we’ll finally see what Motion Control on Wii can really be like.

The Red Steel 2 release date is March 23rd and if you own a Wii then this is the must have title to own before the upcoming Metroid and Mario games. Unlike the original; Red Steel 2 for Wii is no longer set in Japan, instead you’re thrown into a futuristic Wild West setting. It’s still a first person action game and yes you’re equipped with your trusty pistol and a whacking great sword. Check out these Red Steel 2 screenshots to see the excellent Cell Shaded graphics, very slick looking and probably the best visuals on Wii so far.

I agree that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are a strange choice for a Disney Movie. Sweeny Todd lovers may not find enough blood in the upcoming Alice in Wonderland game for their liking but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. Alice in Wonderland for Wii is the game of the upcoming movie and promises to be just as imaginative and weird as the film. Disney haven’t been slumps when it comes to their video game releases lately so the thought of getting Alice to master abilities like; altering perception, making objects invisible and manipulating time, could mean that this Wii game is a hit come the Alice in Wonderland release date of March 2nd 2010.

My Zoo Release Date

This September straight from Hudson Software who brought us My Aquarium comes My Zoo to our Nintendo Wii’s via WiiWare. Many people criticized My Aquarium for being a glorified screensaver but deep down there was a bit more content, some of it being quite educational to be found if you actually looked for it. So this time around My Zoo takes things to the next level and we’re treated to a much more interactive experience.

As the title suggests My Zoo let’s you run your very own Zoo on your Wii, initially there are eight animals to care including lions, pandas, zebras, and elephants. Apparently there will be more animals to download at a later date, no mention if this will be free or paid DLC or not just yet. Everything you’d expect from running a Zoo is here; Feeding, Caring, Entertaining and even family friendly Breeding.

So if you fancy attempting to run your own Zoo without having to clean up the mess then for just 500 Nintendo Points; My Zoo for Wii looks a nice title for younger kids and casual game lovers. The My Zoo release date is September and we hope to bring you a My Zoo review very soon.

Capcom have finally informed us that the release date for Spyborgs is September 29th 2009. Spyborgs is an exclusive Wii title which sees a trio of superhero cyborgs go after a former team member who has gone to the dark side. This coop brawler for up to two players sees you battling your way through hundreds of enemies, giant bosses and gameplay puzzles in what I like to call; a SciFI version of Madworld. With upgradable weapons, destructible environments, tons of pummelling action and an Xbox like Achievement System we can’t help but think Spyborgs for Wii will be a hit later this year.

After such a long wait we can finally look forward to the upcoming blockbuster movie and accompanying video game release of Harry Potter’s 6th adventure; Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for Wii. Electronic Art’s have spent many months and worked very hard to make this the best Harry Potter video game to date and promise to keep as close to the storyline of the film as possible whilst making the game fun for all ages. Wii owners can use step into Harry’s shoes and take part in interactive elements using the Nintendo Wii remote motion sensing controller.

This time around Harry Potter faces his darkest and most terrifying battles yet and will need all of his magic skills and cunning to defeat the evils brought on by Lord Voldemort.
